Lakeland Art Therapy was born from a simple truth: healing should feel human.

Founder Kendal has always been drawn to spaces that feel creative, comforting, and real—while still grounded in solid clinical training. After years of learning the "why" behind what helps people heal, she set out to create a space that blends that knowledge with a refreshing, down-to-earth approach.

Because let’s be honest—deciding to sit down and unpack your struggles with someone is already hard enough. Kendal believes therapy doesn’t have to feel like a chore or a cold clinical experience. Instead, it can be natural, even enjoyable. A place where heavy conversations are held with care, and a little levity is welcome.

Here, we bring light to the dark, color to the dull, and hope to the stuck places—never dismissing reality, always honoring it. Lakeland Art Therapy is about showing up as you are, creating space for growth, and rediscovering the parts of you that may have been hidden under the weight of “getting through it.”

Come as you are. We’ll meet you there—with creativity, compassion, and room to breathe.

MEET THE FOUNDER

Kendal Neal

LMHC, ATR

Hi, I'm Kendal. I understand what it's like to feel overwhelmed by life's transitions, to struggle with self-doubt, or to feel like you're holding yourself back. I help people work through anxiety, burnout, trauma, and chronic stress using a mix of creativity, grounding, and honest conversation. My approach is holistic, down-to-earth, and yes—sometimes funny. Because sometimes, laughing at our pain (even just a little) can be part of what helps us heal.

You don’t need to be an artist to benefit from art therapy—just open to exploring what comes up. My goal is to create a space where you feel safe, supported, and more connected to yourself.

As someone who believes healing happens through authentic connection and creative expression, I've dedicated my practice to creating a space where you can explore your inner world without judgment.

I'm trained in both art therapy and EMDR because I believe some wounds need more than words to heal. My approach honors your whole self—mind, body, and spirit—and meets you exactly where you are in your journey.

• Process big transitions (divorce, moves, new schools)

• Build self-confidence from the inside out

• Learn healthy ways to manage overwhelming emotions

For young adults —

(and young at heart.)

• Feels capable on the outside but struggles with self-doubt inside

 • Is tired of people-pleasing and ready to find your authentic voice

• Feels overwhelmed by anxiety, burnout, or life transitions

• Wants deeper healing than traditional therapy offers

• Values a holistic approach that honors your spiritual side

You've found your place. Let's explore what's keeping you playing small and discover the confidence that comes from truly knowing yourself.

For Adults

Why Art Therapy Can Be Transformative for Adults

Art therapy isn’t just for kids—it’s a powerful tool for adults who are seeking a creative and non-traditional approach to healing and self-discovery.

  • Break free from talk-only therapy – Sometimes words aren’t enough. Art therapy gives you another way to express emotions and experiences that may feel difficult to put into words.

  • Reduce stress and anxiety – Engaging in creative expression activates relaxation responses in the brain, helping you feel calmer and more grounded.

  • Gain new insights – Artwork often reveals patterns, symbols, and themes from your subconscious that can deepen self-awareness and highlight areas of growth.

  • Tap into creativity, not skill – You don’t need to be “artistic” to benefit. Art therapy is about expression, not perfection.

  • Reignite play and curiosity – Creating art can reconnect you with a sense of joy, curiosity, and openness that often gets buried in adulthood.

  • Empower your voice – Through images, colors, and shapes, you can communicate experiences that may otherwise remain hidden or silenced.

  • Complement traditional therapy – Art therapy offers a unique, holistic path to healing that blends creativity with therapeutic guidance.
